Gender and the workplace specialist

Ark Knowledge Networks is looking for a gender and workplace specialist to join a proposal we are leading. We’re reviewing expressions of interest as they arrive and aim to select candidates within two weeks.

About 12–15 days if awarded
November 2026 – May 2027
Paid delivery work, USD day rate

About the assignment

Ark is an applied AI consultancy and venture studio that develops technology systems, such as multilingual research tools, knowledge platforms and local AI, for organisations across the Global South.

The assignment is remote research and measurement work on gender equality at work for an international non-profit. It is global in scope, applying across the Global North and South, and focuses on large employers, with practice cascading to SMEs through supply chains and business networks. Ark leads the proposal and runs the data architecture and analysis; you bring the subject expertise.

WHAT ARK BRINGS

  • We lead and write the proposal, and manage the bid.
  • We design the research and data approach and run the analysis.
  • We build the software and technology: multilingual research tools and knowledge systems.
  • We bring experience working across Global South contexts.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Subject expertise on gender and the world of work.
  • Judgement on evidence, benchmarks and employer practice.
  • A named role on the team, credited in the proposal.

The role

You will be the named gender specialist on our team: light input on the proposal now and, if we win, about 12–15 days between November 2026 and May 2027.

  • Advise on the technical approach and review the proposal
  • Bring subject expertise to the evidence review and to case studies of large employers across regions
  • Advise on workplace benchmarks and measures that large employers can adopt and cascade to SMEs
  • Review drafts for accuracy

Who we’re looking for

ESSENTIAL

  • A track record in gender and the world of work, for example care and parental leave, men’s engagement, workplace equality policy or inclusion
  • Working knowledge of ILO, UN Women and Sustainable Development Goal frameworks
  • Experience writing evidence-based briefs for employers or non-academic readers

DESIRABLE

  • Experience with large employers’ gender policies or benchmarks, or with how practice reaches SMEs through supply chains and business networks
  • Based in, or with research ties to, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America or Asia

Applicants based in or connected to the Global South are particularly welcome.
